Town Hall Meeting on Sunday, May 4th at 6:30 PM in Ellis Hall. The interim pastor search committee has recommended calling Stuart Carlton as Interim Pastor effective June 1, 2014.
Leadership Coordinating Council – The church has needed a group of leaders to work together that is dedicated to the overall leadership functions of the church. The Transition Team recommended this group, Leadership Coordinating Council, to the church on October 20, 2013 and the church approved their formation.
In finishing my work as Intentional Interim Pastor, my primary goal is to get the Leadership Coordinating Council up and running. I have completed an explanation of the work and structure of the Leadership Coordinating Council and its Leadership Team. I will have that document for you to pick up this Sunday, April 13. Remember, I laid the ground work for the Leadership Coordinating Council on two consecutive Wednesday nights, November 20 and December 11, 2013. I will also have that document out for those who need it. The Mission of the Leadership Coordinating Council and its Leadership Team is to provide a unified structure for guiding the church's leadership, management and administrative decisions. This includes, ensuring that the mission, ministry plan, and vision statements are continually being fulfilled, evaluated, and updated. They help set evaluation tools for personnel and programs. They also provide the church groundwork for setting policy and procedures.
The Leadership Coordinating Council is made up of the chairpersons/leaders of the committees and teams of what was once the Ministry Coordinating Council’s Administrative Swim Lane. By separating them, the MCC is freed to work on the ministry needs of the church. Too often MCC meetings were taken up with leadership issues and ministry needs were tabled. With the leadership/ministry functions separated, both tasks get the full attention they deserve.
On Wednesday, April 23, I will go over the Leadership Team and Leadership Coordinating Council Structure and Function document at 6:15 pm in Ellis Hall. I will do my best to make this vital ministry understandable.
On Wednesday, May 7, I will conduct a Question and Answer session prior to having a called Business Meeting on Sunday, May 11, to vote on the description and functions of the Leadership Coordinating Council and its Leadership team. Everyone should come that night to be sure they are all clear on the set up for this Council prior to the vote the following Sunday. There will be no further discussion during the vote.
I hope to have an initial group of people who can fill the Leadership Team, nine voting members (two by virtue of office), ready to commit to this vital ministry in anticipation of the church’s approving its founding document. Then I hope to have an organizational meeting of this group on Wednesday, May 29. Then the Leadership Team can begin its work in heading the Leadership Coordinating Council and providing that unified structure to guide the church’s leadership decision making. – Bruce Queen
Phone Call List - We are developing a phone call list for those members who do not have email, and would like to be called about changes or closings at the church. Please call the church office if you would like to be added to the list.
Collecting Shoes- Women on Mission are collecting new or like-new shoes, new socks, and new underware for children through adults at Standing Rock Reservation. Please place items in the blue tub outside of the Sanctuary.
Christmas in August - The committee for Christmas in August is lookiing for volunteers to help this year. We are looking to make it bigger than ever! Please call Debbie Haley at 397-5732 if you are interested in helping.
Operation Christmas Child - OK FBC members, it's that time of the year again. Start collecting items for the shoeboxes! It's the perfect time, right after Valentine's Day, when things are on sale. We are in need of everything. Look for Debbie's shoebox table.
Prayer Room - As we step into 2014, let each of us examine ourselves and be thankful for opportunities that will challenge us to expand our faith. I ask you to consider being a prayer warrior in the church’s Prayer Room for one worship service of your choice. Let’s all step out of our comfort zone and grow together in faith.

Children's Worship - It's time to volunteer for children's worship 2014. There is a signup sheet on the church's bulleting board in the commons area.

Transportation Ministry – As a ministry of FBC, we have drivers who are willing to drive people to doctor's visits or church functions. If you need a ride, please call the church office a couple of days ahead of time and we will do our best to match you with an available driver.
